Oregon Field Guide did a program on Portland's Forest Park, 5000 acres inside the city limits.

I didn't see the program, but just asking:

Did the program happen to mention the slope of Forest Park is close to Expert Snow Skier's heaven? Drops right down to the river.

PDF file: http://www.portlandonline.com/parks/...king%20Map.pdf

So, ah, the Springfield road mt bike path drops some 800 ft in about a mile & 1/2?
Anyone do the math to find the slope?

Mostly they talked about bicycle trails.

Phil, I'm confused by this statement? Skiing in Forest Park? It would never have enough snow.

Springfield would be about a 10% overall slope then (800 feet/ 8000 feet (about 1.5 miles), which is barely a bunnyhill in skiing terms. Expert skiers are looking for 30-40% usually.

I was referring to the steepness of the incline. Expert skiers slopes are well known to be steep, as you posted. And while there is no snow skiing in Forest Park, the slope is still something to contend with.
