Hello,

My husband and I will be in Prescott this September. Apparently there is a big VHF contest then. He wants to know where there is a good high location he can operate from. He really enjoys contesting.

Thanks,

Best bet is to hook up with some of the local hams for advise if you arrive well before the contest weekend. Most of AZ is covered by "open" linked repeaters on 2m and 440. i.e. North link Rim link, Cal-zona,etc. Prescott is DM34.

There are several mountains close and around the Prescott area. Just pick one.

While we're on the subject, DH reminded me about antenna ordinances.

Are there any in Prescott we should be aware of if we choose to relocate there?

They vary quite a bit. If you find yourself with an HOA you may be out of luck.
Rural areas are easier of course and overall more antennas seem to be located in Prescott Valley than in Prescott proper.
Of course the two cities adjoin one another at the city limits.
