I'm 31 an older Millennial, just a bit younger than you. I have family that just retire in January, but will be looking for a house in PV next month. I'm sure you'll find a job in PV, if not, get a job in Phoenix and commute to there until you get a place there.

As you can see, PV and NG has very similar weather patterns, but PV has slightly warmer temps, less snow, more sun. Coon Rapids is much cooler, receives less sun and more snow. It's a nice adjustment for those coming from the northern US.
I'm not sure about the accuracy of those other weather graphics, but I recently discovered that the snowfall chart above is highly erroneous for many Arizona locations. For example Intellicast - Local Weather Forecast, Reports and Maps says that the average snowfall for Prescott Valley in March is only 7.2" and for January is only 3.5".

I reported this here https://www.city-data.com/forum/about...l#post43789661

Here is another weather website that reports even lower snowfall amounts for Prescott which is at a higher elevation than Prescott Valley. http://www.usclimatedata.com/climate...tates/usaz0178

There are younger people here too. For many years, most of our friends were in their 60's and 70's, but we took up mountain biking and now have lots of friends in their 20's-50's. If you join some active, outdoors groups, you will meet plenty of younger people. There is also a young entrepreneurs group: www.prescottareayp.org

1/3 Over 50 now I've read in other stats, the above could also translate to that.

I briefly went back to the previous page on the thread, compared the diagrams for snowfall average from Prescott Valley to Northglenn and Coons. Prescott Valley receives 20 ins in March while the other two cities in comparison receive roughly 10 ins on average, glad you pointed out the discrepancy. There's no way PV gets more snow on average than the other cities.

Overall at least to us, winter is really not that much of an issue anymore. At least in the 6 years we've been here I can't remember ever getting 20 inches of snow in one month during any of the winter months and we're at 5500 ft. elevation. PV's elevation is even lower. Of course if you're over 6000 ft. it may be a different story which could add to the overall totals.

I shouldn't be concerned about snow in PV or Prescott since you guys get less than we do. I'm at 5,300 ft in Northglenn, get more snow on average and with Prescott being higher elevation by 5,367 ft (67ft) getting less snow, it will be a breeze.

I'm investigating areas to move to from Las Vegas, where we've been essentially stranded for almost 2 years. School district is worst in nation; something my husband found out the hard way. We moved here for a music teacher job and have regretted it ever since. I've been looking for work for months and unless you're 21 and look good in a bikini, pay is terrible (most jobs are around $10 an hour).

We would be looking to rent a 3 bedroom house. What are the rentals going for in either city? Also, what is the music scene like? He plays keyboard and back in CA he often played solo (jazz, mostly) at restaurants and was in a band for many years. Vegas has very little opportunity for either. It's been very frustrating for him-he misses performing.

We're both in early 50's, but way beyond being able to retire. Is there a chance to find some happiness in the Prescott area?

You would be well advised to line up a job prior to coming to Prescott - especially in a tight field such as the music industry. If you do not have gainful employment (or significant cash assets), no landlord will rent to you.

As far as the music scene, it's great in Prescott. There are live bands at many of the restaurants around town. I do not know what they get paid, but I doubt that you could earn a living doing that. There are high schools and colleges that might be hiring. You could try freelance teaching, but without cash reserves you would not be able to find a rental.

Our favorite musical event of the year is Acker Night. Acker Night Showcase They close down the square and nearly every business has some local talent singing or playing. Everyone walks around from business to business enjoying the music. Donations are accepted to raise money for musical education.
