I'm sure there are. I'm an Independent as well but usually vote R.

I got the 73% statistic from the last presidential election.

The current SoCal resident who posed the question for which he was mocked by SFBayBoomer is, I expect, looking forward to living in a place where the majority of the residents have views harmonious with his own. I know I am. Getting tired of having to lower my voice in public when discussing conservative issues. I live in the smug elitist progressive paradise known as the SF Bay Area.

Exactly! Since moving here we've traveled throughout this wonderful state. I would rather live anywhere in Arizona over anyplace in New York or the entire country for that matter. We love our adopted state and are so grateful to it's people for making Arizona what it is, and so far have kept it that way.

We made several trips out here before we moved and spent countless hours reading and studying all things Arizona. It was almost as if we'd lived here before ever setting foot here. There was absolutely no culture shock as we knew what we wanted out of life and found it. I just thank God we made the right decision and moved where we truly belong and are proud to call Arizona our home. There's nothing like the taste of freedom, let's just hope and do all we can to keep it that way.

I hope for your sake that you will be able to leave there. There's really nothing to fear. Just do your homework and make sure you are where you want to be and everything will work out for you. We put up with the very same crap back east. We packed up and left everything that we were familiar with, life long friends, family, places, everything. Just to get out of that God awful state. Moved to Arizona where we knew absolutely no one. Turns out to be the best decision we ever made. You just can't put a price on freedom, independence, and happiness and to live amongst free thinking people who just want to be left alone and not be lorded over by elitists. We had no problems adapting to our new home and have made wonderful new friends. It's as if we'd known these people all of our lives. Great people, all of them.

I'm sure I cancelled out every national vote he ever cast, and I've been looking at Prescott, AZ myself.
I think other states would be more to your liking. I know of several people, who while enjoying the freedom of Arizona, are very frustrated with it's right leaning politics. California has lived the liberal dream for years. Why not stay there and reap the good fruits from the many liberal seeds that have been sown? Why would a conservative state even draw you?

I'm a Democrat, but I don't consider myself to be a liberal. Wrap your head around that.

And us; we're Independents and are fiscally conservative but socially liberal, so we're considered by you hard cores as Socialists?

I am not drawn to a conservative state; however, I am looking at all states to see where I might find a big house in a beautiful location on a larger lot that costs less than California. We have been priced out of that type of home in the San Francisco Bay Area. But there are other issues of importance, such as health care, etc. Aside from the Mayo Clinic near Phoenix, I don't know whether there is even decent healthcare available in other parts of Arizona. (Decent means the vast majority of doctors have been trained at the top medical schools and graduated at the top of their class, that facilities are extremely modern, etc. There's a large list.)
I'm within spitting distance of Stanford Hospital, UCSF, etc. and the highest rated HMO in the U.S. is here, and the doctors are nearly all trained and have received fellowships from Stanford, UCSF, UCLA, YALE, HARVARD, etc. in Kaiser Permanente.)

I think it is highly likely that Arizona is going to get increasingly higher numbers of Californians, including many Democrats, partly because California has been overrun with foreign money which has caused house prices to soar. Californians, for the most part, want somewhere which is at least closer to California, especially if they are leaving family behind.

More Californians (not all, but most) are registered Democrats, and that will change your political demographics. It's already happening, if you look at the numbers.

For what it's worth, View Point North in PV where I live is full of retirees. You would think that it's a retirement community there are so many of us. Very quiet.
We have an HOA but it's only $79 a year and it's not part of HOMCO anymore either. No club house or amenities, just keeps you from painting the houses with polka dots or doing other things that might be an irritant to your neighbor.
This is a very large development and they are still building. I think the total build out will be some 1300 homes when completed. Our home has been here about 13 years now.Viewpoint Real Estate - Homes for Sale in Viewpoint, Prescott Valley, AZ - realtor.com®
Here is just one link to homes in View Point for sale. As stated, they are still building too.

That's a very good question. I wish I had an answer for that. I sure as hell can't tell the difference. Can you?Although I've always voted Republican I consider myself to be Conservative. In Arizona that qualifies me to be an Independent. However I'm more of an originalist/constitutionalist. Maybe Libertarian?

If you do vote the Democratic ticket you are endorsing those policies whether they are Liberal or not. Just as when I vote Republican I'm endorsing that parties platform Conservative or not. Hopefully Conservative.

We are a two party system and for good reason. So no matter what we want to call ourselves we have to support the party that best represents our beliefs. How far each party shifts from left to right or vice versa is up to us. As far as I'm concerned there is no middle ground. Either you're willing to give up your civil liberties to a group of greedy, self centered, corrupt politicians and that's just what they are, greedy, self centered, corrupt politicians or you're fighting to keep them. It's as simple as that.

It was Lord Acton, the British historian, who said: “All power tends to corrupt; absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Politicians on both sides will lie, cheat, steal and prostitute themselves in their quest for absolute power.

You can only blame the party that has absolute control over your state and those who keep on electing them for California's problems. We certainly don't want all that crap here. A lot of Californians that I know are glad to be out of that state just as I am with New York. What makes you so sure they will turn Arizona "Blue"?

You guys made your own mess. Now you can wallow in it.
