Who cares about the Wonderlic scores? Playing on the field is what matters

This is all you need to know from this article...

A 2009 study by professors from Fresno State University, the University of Georgia and Towson State found no connection between Wonderlic scores and performance during the first three years of a player's NFL career. The group studied 762 players from the 2002, 2003 and 2004 draft classes.

John W. Michel, an assistant professor at Towson University who co-authored the study, told the Washington Post: "We found in no cases was cognitive ability related to (football) performance. We did find a negative relationship for tight ends and defensive backs. For defensive backs, it was the most pronounced; basically, the lower you scored on the Wonderlic, the better you performed."

The Vikings have had problems with discipline off the field with defensive players. I think the dumber a player is, the more likely they are to break the law and embarrass the team.

I agree that the Wonderlic scores, as embarassingly low as they may be for some, if not many, probably have little effect on a player's ability to play at a high level.
It does indicate, however, the general lack of intelligence and/ or laziness of many draft prospects as it relates to life outside of, and after football, especially. Witness the incredibly high percentage of former NFL players who are bankrupt, or out of money soon after retirement.
To lose millions in such a short period of time speaks to poor decisions, inability to choose good advisors, and lack of any decent financial acumen. In short, they aren't smart enough to make good decisions.

Do you have any facts to back this up?

Do a Google search on: NFL players go broke. The figure 78% will be repeated ad nauseaum.
