I want to see how they do away from their field before I crown them the NFC champs. What happened when they played at Carolina, a 12-7 score? The way everyone raves about them, you would think it should have been a blowout.
Didn't the Seahawks also "destroy" the 49ers in week 16 last year at Seattle & then go on to lose in the playoffs to the Falcons?
Yes they did... I remember it quite well cuz I won like $400 on the game. All the Seattle fans at work were giving me 6-10 points AND THE FALCONS WERE AT HOME. Confident eh?
I have to be grateful though... If RGIII doesn't come up lame the week before I'd have never gotten the opportunity to win all that money.

Same here... Seattle was a lucky red zone fumble from losing in Carolina.
Yes the D was impressive last night... But let's not crown them NFC champs yet. I'm still not all that impressed with the offense though... Wilson has made the plays when he's needed to but 150 yards passing?
After the gimme game against Jacksonville on Sunday they have road games @ Houston and Indy. If they win those I'll be impressed.
They were pretty horrible on the road last season... 1-5 to start (only win @ Carolina) followed by wins over mediocre CHI and BUF... Then the playoff win in WAS followed by the loss in ATL.
Speaking of that... Seattle has another chance in Atlanta to break the Falcons 5 game series winning streak... Can't wait to see the Julio Jones/Richard Sherman matchup in week 10.
Last week's 12-7 win in Carolina doesn't make Seattle a good road team.
After hearing for so long about how carroll can't match up with harbaugh, about how the 49ers had their #, the obnoxious way the entire 49ers organization acted in the last meeting of 2011 and first meeting of 2012 it sure is nice to see a two game run of 71-16 against them - another game where they just physically dominated a strong team
Definitely some concerns - the OL needs to do a better job, Unger has not looked good at all this season which is unexpected ..... also, having Okung out for a while is not good as he's an excellent LT and there is a big drop off behind him plus it messes with the line depth
Pass defense has been outstanding - held Cam to his lowest yardage as a pro and they shut down the niners again - since Kaepernick has taken over as QB they've scored something like 30+ ppg against any team not named seattle including the playoffs and only 16 in two games against them
In a pass happy league, facing two of the athletic "read option" QBs they have allowed 113 passing yards per game - there are 20 teams in the league that are averaging giving up at least double that amount per game
460 yards and 10 points allowed in 2 games will equate to victories
They didn't play their best game in Carolina, but did well for a road opener on the other coast and won it in their style .... Carolina has an excellent front 7, maybe the best in the league and took away the running game and Wilsons scramble ... Seattle still found a way to beat them as Russell settled down and passed for 320 and a TD
Seattle grinds teams, they put them away late and many games end like they did this past Sunday - with Seattle in scoring territory taking a knee as the clock expires .... last year Seattle games had the fewest plays from scrimmage in the league with 121 combined between the teams .... the Carolina game came in under that at 107 .... you had two teams that kept the game clock moving which limited seattle to 9 full drives and carolina to 8 full drives for the game
On those 9 drives, five of them went at least 45 yards - resulting in a red zone fumble lost, 2 FGs, a passing TD and a knee to end the game in scoring territory ......... if over 50% of your drives are going at least 45 yards you're going to typically score more than 12 points - they didn't against Carolina which happens in football sometimes, but they definitely outplayed them and grabbed the win
The defense has scary potential, especially at home, when they get fully healthy .... Avril made his first appearance and had an immediate impact, Bennett was a handful all game, the 49ers receivers were taken out the game with Browner on the bench and come week 5 they should have both Clemmons and Irvin back into the mix ..... they could have the flexibility on the DL to either go with a big group our they could do something like the "nascar" line that StL breaks out where they just shoot your with 4 pass rushers on passing downs ... a lot of fun potential
Especially at home, in front of a crowd that set a record for the loudest recorded cheering at a sporting event measuring over 136 decibels
Definitely a long way to go, but all told the seasons off to a good start
so much of the ground work was put in by Tod Lieweke after Paul Allen bought the team - such a great job reincorporating the local community which had been alienated by a combination of the awful Ken Behring and the shift in Seattle itself during that same time frame
The 12 flag, the Blue Thunder drum line, the hawk leading the team onto the field, the tracking of the noise - it's all great ..... this team has the pulse of their community and now has a team that full of players and coaches that really embrace that aspect

Strong possibility if he doesn't blame it on East Coast bias.
