More like because the Cubs are broken, and the White Sox only marginally less so. Chicago's too big to play the "OMG SMALL MARKET WE CANT COMPETE WITH THE YANKEES" card. That dog will hunt just fine in Milwaukee but Chitown's a whole different ball o' wax.
(disclaimer: I am not a Brewers fan and I'm not even from Wisconsin, just a Pack fan.)
My comment is more specifically directed at the Yankees having a hugely lopsided advantage. Other teams that have tried to chase their payroll have had financial problems as a result including the Mets in particular.
But...let's not sidetrack....Chicago still have a world series win not THAT long ago.
I'm going off the edge here and say the Bears have a good chance to beat New Orleans seeing as I was high on them to beat the Falcons!
Early in the season, some teams haven't changed that much, and I look at the Bears being similar to the Packers (don't slam me, just my non-scientific opinion)! Urlacher is back and will be playing!
My money is on the Bears but with those two teams I think they could play 100 games and be within 5-10 wins of each other. Turnovers, big plays will likely decide the game as I don't see either one being notably superior to the other.
I wholeheartedly throw my support behind the Bears this year and anticipate the same level of success for this organization as has been the case with my sponsorship of previous teams in the past.

I saw somewhere that Julius Peppers paid to have the whole defense flown to New Mexico for the funeral of Brian's mom. Really class move on Julius' part. I did not have a high opinion of him considering how he left Carolina but all is forgiven with this move.

I lived in Charlotte during his last year there, then moved back to Chicago the offseason when we signed him. The radio guys in Charlotte killed him, said he didn't try, was prone to taking plays off etc. I was expecting to see some of that when he got here.
Needless to say, none of that has yet happened and he has been a stud so far.
Bears only problem were missed blocks in the 2nd half....one leading to a fumble.
Hard to blame Cutler when he takes a 5 step drop and there are 1-2 defenders sitting there waiting for him reading newspapers.
Wow, vikings choked.
Detroit...waiting to see how they do against an NFL team.
Packers...slept in, woke up in the 2nd half. unimpressive win against a bad team.
