Trolls are just grumpy. Even if they say something that hits you where it hurts and you want to counter-attack, back off and walk away. Don't give them any power to bring you down.
If you MUST say something back, say something like, "Have a lovely day."
I hardly have a rap sheet, and am a well educated, double master degree, professional in senior management at a F200 company. I am also a narcissist. I love trolling. But I also offer serious advise and valuable replies to some posts. I do it because the target is usually an idiot and I enjoy pointing out what they don't see in themselves. Most people cant handle any feedback and are clueless to how they sound or come off. Then there are those where things always happen to them, yet they never see that they are the reason. Someone has to tell them, and I've appointed myself to do it.

So, they're an idiot because they don't agree with you on a certain topic and then you go flying away at your keyboard throwing all types of insults at them for the sake of them realizing just how stupid they are?

Yes. But at least I know what it is and seem to be the only one with enough size to admit it. Though the reps would indicate that a lot of my fellow trolls have read and agree with me. Its my obligation to society to point out your failures. I can do it in real life, but its so much funner here. I'm not ashamed to be a Troll in the least.
I fell victim to some trolls today on another forum yet again. It just annoys me that I post a legit thread and then certain people start with personal attacks and make assumptions. What makes these keyboard warriors want to do this? Honestly I truly believe the people who start trouble online have a rap sheet in real life. There is definitly something psychologically wrong with these people to want to come on line simply looking to start trouble. And when you strike back at these trolls fellow members that like them attack you too and back them up. It's bs all around.
I read an article about it and a study has said internet trolls have traits of psychopathy,narcissism, and sadism. I totally believe that. The internet brings out sooooooo many weird people because of the anonymity.
I'm sure I'll get some trolls to comment on this too it's a given
Just ignore them. They like the rise they get out of people since they usually have no life of their own. Yes, that can include long-time posters.

I really enjoy blogging, especially when I am at work. (I am working at my mom's retail store in the mall and working can be really boring)
We are really enjoying our online conversation, but trolls decided to mess it up with personal attacks or censorship. They have to be really angry people. Just truly sad.
I don't mind off topic replies at all because off topic replies can be very interesting. As long as people stay respectful towards each other and can bring something positive to the discussion, I really don't know why these trolls just decide to mess it all up.
You just have to put certain posters on ignore list. I don't take some posters seriously at all because their behaviors are expected. There are many cool fellows on city data though, concentrate on them. This is the only way to get something positive out of this forum.
I agree. I hate online grumpy old men, they are the worst, stubborn, close minded, freaking rude. You can kind of tell that they are really unpleasant unhappy people by the comments they make on the threads. Very rude people too. Annoying.
