It's attitudes that spread through society like yours that contribute to the ostracization of those who find themselves in such a position.

While everyone is focusing on the virginity and the rejection of women concerning the shooting, they are yet again ignoring and missing the potential underlying causes.

I watched the entire video. Watching it was very eye-opening. I really questioned whether I was just glorifying his actions by watching but I really wanted to gain a perspective into his mind.

I can relate to the fact that he felt loneliness at times. Who among us hasn't been envious of someone else's life at a time or two? Being rejected for love is a feeling that stings hard. Tonight, I wonder how many of us can say we have felt like he had at a time in our lives. A even more important question to ponder is why those of us who have felt like he had have not crossed that point of no return to the point of taking our frustrations out on the world and ripping lives apart?

It does. He was quite involved with the PUA/MRA community, according to news reports.

Correlation =/= causation. And by the way, those two communities actually tend to dislike each other quite alot. The former is a dating/lifestyle/sex focused community, while the latter is composed of various politically motivated organizations (mostly online in nature), and the only thing that they can agree on is that feminism is destroying civilization. Just thought I'd clear that up because many CD people seem to be confused as to the distinction between the two communities.

It's one of the hardest things growing up is watching people succeed where you failed miserably over and over, especially when there's just so much pressure in keeping up with the Jonses way of living here in good ol' Murica. I've had some nasty stuff thrown my direction for being in his shoes for years to come, but you don't see me threatening people's lives. I don't know why people expect others to snap like this because a very small minority of people lose their grip on reality.

That's the difference, life can sure suck, but you have to consider when personal accountability and empathy takes root. It's the difference that sets apart Elliot from the frustrated forever alone guys.

Take it from a guy who's had horrible luck with women up until a point.

Just out of curiosity what is MRA? I'm afraid to do a Google search on it.

YouTube Video: Retribution - Video - NYTimes.com

The video. And yes, there are totally folks who post here who repeat similar, misogynistic garbage.

I like introspection and I like it when people have the empathy to relate but to be honest I think you are being too hard on yourself. I'm not putting words in your mouth but it sounds like something in the same vein as, "he could be anyone."

To be honest it kind of takes a lot of work to create a guy like this. There is the family dynamic, the pre-existing condition dynamic, a lack of intervention. Also, CNN reports that four of the six victims were men. So, I'm a little bit suspicious of the idea that he was motivated by rejection from women. Again, that might be how he portrays it in his videos but honestly there is something more going on there.

Don't let the NRA hear you say this. They will have the gun nuts picketing your home in no time.
