I had a dream last night that I was watching the movie "The Exorcist" from 1973. It was the scene where the priest first interviews the demon-possessed girl. When it says to him, "What an excellent day for an exorcism" and is basically acting cordial and intelligent. After he finishes talking to her, this is the strange part of my dream. He has somehow captured the demon into a small glass container of water. I could see the demons eyes at the top of the water and they were sort of fading away. The glass container was no larger than a perfume bottle. But it had an unusual shape. From the side it would have looked like a triangle/pyramid, such that the opening of the glass container was narrow along the entire top. Almost like a doctor's bag/purse that is opened along the top.
The entire message of the dream seemed to be that the demon had lost its powerful effect after it had talked and made the appearance to the priest, but turning into water.
So it lost its power by revealing itself by talking, maybe? That's such a therapy dream! Just talk about it and the problem disappears!
Or did Pazuzu dissipate because he was friendly and courteous to the priest?
Or did engaging it in conversation allow the priest to 'bottle' it? Does the bottle represent father Meron (or was this Father Karras?) the fact that he had made his assessment and from here on in it was a done deal?
And of course, water represents feelings in a dream.
I'm not sure, but yes it seemed like therapy in a sense.
It was the younger priest.
I watched the film scene again today and noticed he had brought holy water with him.
