As times are currently we see a plethora of wimpy men with guns. Why are we seeing so many overly emotional men with the inability to rationally see that their own gun ownership is based on an emotional need despite the fact that they are not mentally stable?
We have thousands of pro-gun men that need their "guns for protection" they say but when they are faced with some break-up or some life trouble they use the same gun for destruction. Why the disconnect?
Maybe the first step is getting men to admit they are the weaker sex mentally? I am proud of the thousands of rational male gun owners who are now saying about the overly emotional, irrational men "enough is enough" and standing up for more conservative gun laws and fighting the NRA leadership and gun manufactures. Bravo to the real men!
We need to keep labeling these gun wimps-"GUN WIMPS" because they use guns in a cowardly manner-shooting innocents and people in the back.
Interesting. Since this is the Psychology forum, what is the psychological makeup of a person who can only see the few "wimpy men" who lose their minds and start shooting, but can not see the MILLIONS of male (and female) gun owners who have never shot anybody.
While I have taken a couple of Psych course (many years ago), I certainly am not qualified to comment on this apparent psychological aberration.
Of course, there is also the aberration of those who can only see the gun violence, and ignores the vehicular and knife/sword violence.
Then there is the aberration that passing more laws will stop the violence.
The armchair psychologists should be able to have a real "field day" with those issues!
I don't know any gun owners who aren't hunters and/or ex military. They are all big strong studs, and never shoot people unless they are being paid to do so.
The vast majority of gun owners will never and have never killed anyone though. Making hasty generalizations about a segment of people will not help them to see your side. I plan to own a gun myself in the future for self-defense purposes.
Sometimes I wonder. I'm retired military and LE and I'm armed. I also know what it's like to wake up at 4:30 am to the sounds of someone breaking into my motel room. I'm talking about two people climbing onto the balcony with one holding a flashlight and the other trying to jimmy the slider open. That came to an abrupt end when I pulled back the curtain and let the barrel of my Glock 23 tap the glass. They both immediately jumped off the balcony and ran off like a pair of scaled hyenas. When seconds count, the police are just minutes away. About five minutes in my case. BTW, the fastest growing group of firearms owners are women.

Somewhat like you, former military, former LE and armed. Haven't shot or shot at anyone since leaving the military in the 70s and no one's shot at me. Rabid gun owners, even when legal, can be scary and all too many have no safety training or knowledge of their states' firearms laws. Knowing how to shoot is one thing. Knowing when you can legally shoot takes training. Knowing when and how to avoid having to shoot takes common sense. For all too many, that in low supply.
