Nuns taught us to wait/listen for our "vocation."
The word vocation means calling, the inner voice telling us what to do.
It did not come immediately but eventually found my career and life partner.

Since I was a child I was always told by my my Grandmother (An immigrant from Eastern Europe who taught herself English and went on to be a very successful business woman) always tole me:

You will not die a second before, or a second after there is a space for you, so go out work hard and enjoy yourself, BUT ALWAYS BE GOOD!!!!!!!!

At 77 years old, I still live by that admonition!
