just moved to lovely north port and school is already out and no kids in rental home neigborhood and wondering how my boys can make some friends

There are a lot of activities going on in the area. You will have to get your kids involved in something. Join a group, club, sports, summer camps, etc. Events at the parks. Go to the playground, skate park or bowling alley. George Mullen Activity Center. Morgan Family Community Center. Boys and Girls Club. Summer camps. Church events. North Port Library has a whole calendar of events. 2013 Summer Reading Program. Soccer or karate.

Camps and activities are a great idea! There is an art camp at the North Port Art Center that runs throughout the summer, if they're interested in that. Church activities are another good one for meeting people, if you're religious. There are lots of Christian churches, there's a Muslim mosque in Deep Creek, I have seen at least one synagogue in the area, and there's a Unitarian church in Port Charlotte.
