I'm voting NO, and hoping everybody else does. I'm stunned at the number of hours the bureaucrats have WASTED coming up with lists of ways to spend money they haven't even extracted from us yet. They could well have spent that time coming up with plans to cut their bloated spending. I had jury duty a few months ago, and saw firsthand that the Justice Center is HALF EMPTY. Vote NO on the 16.67% increase, then vote the dunderheads out of office. HH is 100% right - the politicians will never have enough of your money; it's the oil that keeps the self-serving bureaucratic machine running. Rant over.

I'm not generally in favor of taxes, personally I pay way too much.

This tax has a few good things going for it.
Being a sales tax it is also paid by a lot of people who don't live here but use our roads etc.

The law requires that it can only be used for infrastructure other capital expenditures, not for salaries.

Yea they spent a lot of money on the Justice center but if you look at the list there was a tremendous amount spent on parks and Rec. and I'm sure if there were no 1% Tax we would still have the Justice center and no parks.

1 penny out of every dollar I spend on non food items is worth it for the parks alone

1/6=0.167 or 16.7% increase in tax. Elementary math that most don't think about because the local officials state it as a 1 penny increase which is 1% of a dollar. Which sounds better to you?!?!?!?

It's ONE MORE UNNECESSARY TAX our wasteful county commission levies on it's citizens. They have NO CLUE how to cut back on spending! When they want more money, they come up with a new tax or raise existing taxes. No matter how much the gov't gets, they will ALWAYS want more!
Correct. he has it right. when will it stop? Never. keep voting it in and see if if there is ever an end. We are already taxed as one of the top 6 highest rates in the state. Dont even get started on water rates! This is shooting ourselves in the foot. I vote no

I dont like any increase in taxes....the Govt never will have enough. I live in Maryland and the taxes are crazy here....40 new taxes in the last 8 years. They even tax the rain in this state (i am not joking). I cant wait to leave MD and move to FL.

Yes this additional 16.7% sales tax money won't go to salaries and graft but it just means that they don't have to get funds from other budgets to pad their pockets.

I'll wager dollars to donuts that if the 16.7% tax is not passed the few programs people use will be cut first. Those programs people don't notice would still get their annual 5% increase. Politicians are vindictive, the first thing they will cut is toilet paper for the parks, maybe even cone them off...

That wouldn't be too bad. In New Jersey they close major bridges when they get pissed off. And that's just when they're pissed off at each other!

Hahahaha... I know about the GW Bridge. There are other incidents where this has happened?
