They are purchasing property on both sides of Bayshore. In fact, Bayshore may very likely end at Pinion. That's the only way I can see there being enough room to make it happen is if they reach an agreement with the county to sell & remove that section of Bayshore for development.

Which lot are you referring to Mike and I'll tell you. Main St runs North/South (more NNE-SSW). Do you mean the block of lots between Main & Pinion? If so, no. In fact, looking at it, nothing surrounding Main is included in the deal. Everything east of Pinion is.

I left small town Ohio for small town Florida thinking things would be similar as far as quality of life goes, so I can only hope that this doesn't happen. Jobs are great of course, but there is always a price to pay for "progress".
As someone already mentioned, it's way too crowded here already during season. I shudder to think of what such a development would do to traffic congestion here.
Unfortunately, money talks, and I get the feeling that it speaks very loudly here when the topic of new developments comes up.

So, I'd say the consensus is a big fat no, this isn't a good thing. I'll still keep my fingers crossed and hope the net, net, is positive, even with the negatives mentioned.

Agreed. We sold our place in Fort Myers in large part because of the traffic and congestion. Now in PGI I hope it doesn't follow.

Gary in WI (for now)

PGI shouldn't be affected whatsoever. This development is on the PC side of the bridge. Plus, PGI is all residential, so there's no added commercial going in that would increase your traffic.

Time will tell I suppose.

That's easy for you to say, living waaaay out in SGC. But for those of us in the area I don't think this will be good. 41 and Edgewater will both be a mess. The bridge traffic to and from PG will be a real mess.

The County is going to make a fortune. What do us homeowners that bought here for that "sleepy town feel" get?

How about some of that tax $$$ they are about to rake in goes towards our sewers? You know, the sewers that are "supposed to benefit the whole county and all visitors". Maybe the harbor will turn blue for their "beachfront".

I wonder what it will do for the property values of the homes in the area?
