Thank you to everyone who wrote and gave suggestions...I ended up taking my family to Nags Head, we spent a bit on the beach there, then we drove down the coast to Cape Hatteras, think we were on route 12, made stops along the way, we ended at the lighthouse, saw that, climbed the 12 stories(If I recall correctly) in the lighthouse, what a view! all in all the day was great...the coast is beautiful. It reminded me alot like Long Island, especially the "Hamptons", the Dune Road area, homes right on the ocean. It was hazy, and a little overcast to stay on the beach Saturday, but it still was a great day trip. I can't wait to go back!
