Possibly moving to the Fuquay Varina area this summer...We would be coming from great Northern VA school system....looking at several subdivisions with these High Schools listed....which one is the best? I am specifically looking for best schools with the least amount of drugs, gangs, violence problems. Thanks in advance!
I wish that I could say researching the schools and talking with teachers and students is helpful before enrolling, but I did just that and still came out disappointed with the school we chose. The fact of the matter is, you won't know for sure until you are actually in.
Drugs and violence are everywhere you look, even in the best of the best schools.

Hi mrscarlet,
Did you (or anyone else out there) ever hear back from anyone on this? I too am looking to assess how good or bad the Fuquay Schools are before making a move decision. Many thanks for your anticipated reply....
With the new assignment plan that's going into effect in January (presumably), you will have a choice of at least 2 different high schools for any given address. If you have high schoolers already, you will list your choices in order of preference, but then Wake County will assign you, taking your preference into account, but also other factors, including proximity and school capacity. If you have younger students, you'll choose their school at elementary or middle levels the same way, with a defined feeder pattern, so you will know what high school you will feed into. There is still a lot of uncertainty about the assignment plan, particularly for people registering after the choice periods, I think.
For example, I can choose from Banks Road, Ballentine, West Lake, Middle Creek, Fuquay or Lincoln Heights Elementaries, which feed into West Lake, Holly Grove, and Fuquay Middles, which feed into Middle Creek or Fuquay High.
I don't have any first-hand info on the high schools themselves, as I still have younger elementary kids, so can't help you with details there - sorry. Good luck!
As far as drugs and gangs go, I think all the schools you mentioned will be about the same. If you are looking for elite test scores, then Apex is among the best in the state. Holly Springs is not far behind.
If you live in Fuquay (some parts at least) you now have the "choice" of going to Holly Springs schools. Not sure how that will work in practice though...
All three schools are basically the same. Look at the numbers
