Just curious. Or if its not allowed are you allowed to "tailgate" in the parking lot?

No alcohol is sold at the State Fair. I don't have a definitive answer to the tailgating question, though.

No alcohol is sold at the fair. You can't bring any in. The parking lots are patrolled and you're not supposed to drink there either. Seriously though, if you've ever been to the fair, could you imagine if alcohol was served and allowed on the premises?

Dumbest thing in the world to not have alcohol at the state fair. Par for the course for this dumbas* bible belt state. Let church and religion dictate stuff that has no ties to church and religion.

All I can say is thank goodness there is no alcohol at the state fair. I'm all about beer and wine, but the fair is NOT a place I want it to be. Too many crowds, too many kids and teens and too many wound up people.

It's kind of a shame they don't serve. There are many wineries in the state that cannot present their product at the fair. As an earlier poster mentioned, it's the bible belt.

I don't think it has anything to do with the "Bible Belt" factor. Having alcohol at the state fair would be a disaster. Way too many people, huge liabilities, tons of underage kids ect. Pretty much the same reasons why you can't get beer at most College Football Stadiums.

There are a lot of reasons I can think of to go to the fair. Going to drink isn't one of them (and I enjoy drinking!).

Can you imagine the combination of wine, a few fried twinkies and rides?

It has nothing to do with church and religion. The fair is all about showcasing North Carolina's rich tradition of Agriculture. The tradition also happens not to include beer stands on the Midway. If you want to booze it up at the Fair then bring your own like everybody else does
