I like walking through the Triangle Land Conservancy's Johnston Mill property.

Nice pics!
Out around Stagville and Treyburn there are some nice vistas still. The leaves are falling fast and furious lately ( probably those mid-30 degree temps recently) but around the reservoir and around the golfcourse there are still some stellar views.

For Johnston County residents....A walk along the Neuse River in Smithfield..pretty fall colors now and a playground at one end....and then lunch/drinks at The Little Brown Jug(also along the river) or at a outside cafe/deli in downtown. Stop in the Ava Gardner museum or the free large county library(all in town). Historic spots(courthouse/churches etc.) along the way.
All within walking distance of each other. Also check out the Neuse Little Theater along the river for upcoming shows.
Its a nice, inexpensive, quiet 2 -3 hours...did it today(Saturday..I actually expected more people along the river...only us).
Plus the outlets are 5 minutes away for holiday shopping to extend your outing!
