Not really. Aldi's isn't selling damaged and expired goods. These sorts of grocery stores are selling name brand goods that can't be sold at the regular supermarket because they're dinged up or have passed their sell by date.

Wawa is great! Unfortunately, it looks like their store farthest south is near Petersburg, VA. Although, they are moving into the Orlando. FL area later this year. BTW, Wawa is from PA not NJ. (PA native here. I grew up near the original Wawa dairy farm in Wawa, PA.)

Our products will be the items that were taken from the retail grocer or manufacturer because of a dent, or sometimes even a dent in just a couple of cans or boxes will get the whole case sent back. Sometimes it’s that the product is getting close to the suggested best sale date, which does not suggest that there is anything wrong with the product. This date is set by the manufacturer to which they are suggesting it be sold by for the best taste, and quality, but by no means does it mean the product is any lower in quality or that it even will go bad. Also manufacturers change their labels or advertisement schemes which changes packaging, so in turn they pull the present products from the shelves and gets distributed to wholesalers and then to the shelves of the salvage grocery. Also discontinued, surplus and overstocked items are additionally added to the inventory.
Which all adds up to saving you 50% or more in the cost of many of the same items you would find on your grocers shelves
The Around the World Market was doomed to fail from the beginning. The part of the building that faces the road (which is now Second Chance) was (and still is) empty and when you drive by, you just see construction equipment in the window. So, you could hardly tell there was an active business in there. Plus, they never really advertised what they were selling. "Around the world" could mean a lot things. Food? Furniture? Travel agency? Eventually they put up signs in the vacant windows that said "Fresh Veggies" but who woulld really take a chance at that point?
Now, this Second Chance Grocery will almost certainly meet the same fate. I don't understand why it's taking forever for Nico or whoever owns that place to get up and running but I doubt they will be in business for long, assuming they even get going. It almost makes me think about whatever the Prince Grocery used to be. (I choose not to think about that though.)
I agree with others that a Sheetz or some other gas station might make sense there so we don't have to sit in traffic by the Bojangles/Fire Station.
But considering that Holly Springs allowed the O'Reillys Auto Parts to go in RIGHT NEXT DOOR to Advance Auto Parts, nothing would surprise me these days.
There was a Common Sense Grocer in Raleigh that closed. It was the same concept. But the prices were not that good compared to waiting for an item to go on sale at a regular store.
I went here today - I saw the "Open" sign yesterday. It's pretty cool. I spent $13 and got 2 boxes of cereal, a 10 pack of Fibre one bars, a box of Cliff Bars, about 6 packs of gum and a couple of other things. All the boxes are ripped a little or the cans are dented. The lady said that if I found any of the inside packages ripped, then to just bring it back. They had great prices on cans of tuna, Progresso Soups, Ketchup and condiments. They even had bags of Starbucks coffee.
It's a great place to just go and stock up on those "non-perishable" items for a really cheap price!!
