If you are not connected to city water/sewer, you will have your own well or community well and your own septic system.

Most of the homes in the county (not city) have wells and septics. That is true whether you are in Johnston County or Wake County.

If you are not paying city taxes, you aren't getting city services.

It's true!!! 50% of americans live in homes with septic systems and drink water that comes out of the ground. Even some that live 2 or 3 miles out of town.

Yes, my neighborhood falls in this category - we are a few miles outside of Garner and Raleigh city limits, so we also enjoy a lower tax bill. Our neighborhood has a community well for water, so we have a monthly bill based on usage. Each home has individual septic, we have someone come out every 2 years to pump and check it. One advantage of the individual/community water is we don't ever have water restrictions or lawn watering schedules that many towns impose.

I am near the RBC center and have a community well and Septic. Neighbor across the street has Cary water and sewer. Should not be an issue for you. Now if the place has an outhouse that would be another story

Since you mentioned wanting a farm, basically?

You're gonna wind up with a well. And a septic tank.

Dunno of anyplace you can have cows and such that also has city water and sewer. Not around here.

In wake forest, *many* of the homes in neighborhoods west of Capital blvd are in the county, and in the watershed of falls lake, and we are all on septic (some community septic) and well (both private and community)

That also means that the homes are on bigger lots, usually over 1/2 acre......but closer to an acre

Sure thing!

I will say that raising chickens in town isn't usually an issue around here. Other, larger livestock (like cows) you'd need to keep in more rural areas (where you'd be on septic/well instead of city services).
