Wow. I'm surprised no one posted this yet. Avoid the area if at all possible. You won't be able to get through the intersection nonetheless.

I saw it on foxnews.com. I called my friend who lives about a mile away and she was about to head to the bank next to Walmart.

Does anyone know if there are problems at the Tryon Rd and Walnut intersection as a result of this? I have to head to Swift Creek shopping center in about an hour.

I'd stay away from the area if I were you. It looks very messy.

My daughter goes to preschool on Kildaire Farm near Penny Rd. & I didn't notice any traffic backups 'cept for the road construction kind. There are several news helicopters flying over head.

I heard on the news that the bank on the corner - First Citizens - I believe has been evacuated along with business in Waverly Place & Crescent Commons where Walmart is.

Thanks for posting this article! I have school tonight at Wake Tech -- Millpond and my route takes me through that area. Now I have time to look for alternate routes.

I don't know where you're coming from, but you could take Holly Springs Rd. & cut over to Kildaire Farm on Penny Rd. or Ten Ten.

You could also take Old Apex Rd. to left on Laura Duncan to left on Center Street which turns into Ten Ten

I'm coming from the Glenwood South area of Raleigh. I know how to get there using back roads (basically, Penny Road to Kildaire Farm) but I was more concerned on the way back at the end of class if things aren't cleared up by then. I usually take Kildaire up to Tryon to pop over to 64/1, which is faster when there's no traffic. I suppose I could just return the way I came though.

Thanks for the suggestions anyway!

You could take Ten Ten to US/1.
