Don't worry, it goes away fast - people don't even bother shovelling! Best of both worlds.

I could go for a storm on a long weekend, so the kids don't miss school but can get some sledding in!

It's nice to see the snow once a year and convince yourself there are really 4 seasons. But I'll admit I have liked the low heating bills so far this winter. I just paid my gas bill last night and it was $44.

I don't want another spell of 100+ degree days like we had this past summer though. That was a miserable experience.

Although 2007/2008 started off very similar and we did end up getting a couple snowstorms. They were small ones though, maybe a half-inch each, and both of them melted by the next day. Still, looking at the forecast, it will start dipping below freezing again at night, even getting into the 20s, by the end of next week. It's almost like we're flirting with winter and she's playing hard to get.
I/2 INCH each were snowstorms?
A foot and a half would be a snow storm! (at least then school might be canceled in WI)
I agree with Michgc-there is plenty of snow up north! I left to get away from it.

I say bring it on. It is nice to have mother nature step in from time to time and let us sit back with family/friends to enjoy a few unscripted days off.

It's not so much the snow I mind -- I just dread the winter wonderland of ice doom that usually follows.

I'm bringing my snow tires and wheels when I move in a few weeks. It sounds like I might be the only person on the road if Raleigh gets any snow I gotta hang onto them when I make my trip back to Michigan during the holidays.

Where in Michigan are you from? I'm originally from the South East.

I wonder if a switch got flipped somewhere and this is the way winters will be from now on. Two warms ones in a row is very unusual.
