90 mins. I work in Virginia. According to a news item on NPR this week I'm a mega-commuter and form part of the 1%... of commuters who travel for 90 mins or more one way. Yay me.

On foot: 19 minutes

By bus: 10 minutes, if I time the bus right

By car: 5-8 minutes, depending on whether I catch one, two, three, or all four of the traffic lights along the way.

(Home: one block outside downtown Durham; work: American Tobacco Campus)

Yep I'm actively applying for jobs closer to home right now. It was okay before but now that I have a baby to pick up from daycare in the mix it's become unbearable. I'd love to find a job that could allow me to telecommute part of the week but I know those aren't the easiest to come by in my field. I will miss swinging by Loaf for a croissant when I do find a job near me!

It used to take me an hour to drive from N Raleigh to Chapel Hill (ten years ago). Have things changed? I remember I-40 was like a parking lot just about the entire way during rush hour. Even driving from one side of Raleigh to the other could take an hour depending on traffic, back then...

About 13-14 minutes, but that's the benefit of living near RTP.

Knightdale via 540 to downtown Durham, 40 minutes. Unless it's raining and ppl drive mostly 30 mph (aargh), or there's a wreck, and that could add 10 mins. Most days it's 40 mins. going and 35 mins. return trip if I leave at 4pm and take advantage of the new speed limit

Live in 27712 (NW Durham) and commute to RTP (near Alexander & 54) takes 18-20 minutes. Average for ZIP is 23.5 minutes.

When I lived in 27614 (N. Raleigh - Falls River) and commuted to the same area in RTP it took anwhere from 30-45 minutes depending on traffic, averaging about 35. Average commute for 27614 is 25.4 minutes.

Compared to the map, my husband and I average out to a little less than what the map says for Holly Springs - I have a 12 minute commute, he has 34, so we average to 24 minutes, whereas the map shows 29.9. However, I imagine this data was gathered before the new 540 opened, so that might change a lot of the commute times for Holly Springs.

Wishing I could add myself to the "work from home" crew, but still haven't figured out how to make that a reality!
