11 minutes on back country roads in johnston county...no highways or traffic . ...just cows, horses and ponds.

It is definitely a overall job perk.

Wow. An arduous commute like that makes me grateful for a 1st floor master....

I just realized that city-data has graphs on modes of transport and length of commutes. According to their data it looks like a 10-15 minute commute is the most common time in Chapel Hill.

To work: 30-35 minutes on surface streets; 25 minutes on Toll540

Back home: 35-45 minutes

I have resisted using Toll540 in the afternoon, but have seriously considered it recently.

That seems excessive. I can get to Regency Park in 15 - 20 minutes and I live over by Ten Ten on Lake Wheeler Rd.

I'd love to get a job in Regency Park. Right now I work in RTP and it takes me 35-40 minutes one way.

They added a lane to I-40 about 9-10 years ago.

That sounds like me - minus the stairs.
