Here you go: Downtown Raleigh Food Truck Rodeo

It's not at the fairgrounds. I've only been to one food truck rodeo, in Durham. We found it so crowded and the lines were so long that we left without eating. Cool thing to see, once, but we won't be returning. Instead, we try to hit a food truck occasionally using their twitter feed or just passing by or some other way.

BTW, a GPS is a wonderful thing to own. And Durham is WELL worth visiting.

^ this

Yup, the Raleigh food truck rodeo is this Sunday from 12-5 and will stretch several blocks down Fayetteville street. I agree Thta food truck rodeos get crowded and you are much better off just trying to catch trucks at their usual haunts during the week. I typicallyvisitthe rodeos just to check out the scene and people watch. This event will have a few local breweries on hand along with a few coffee carts so that will be nice.

If you do go and plan to eat GO EARLY. Get there 10 minutes before the event starts and know what truck you want to order from. After the firsthand hour lines start to get very long and frankly it is no longer worth it.

Are the trucks selling regular meals or is everything "sample sized"? A friend asked me to go but I'm having a hard time understanding the fun in this rodeo. There are only so many lunches I can eat in one day.

They are selling their regular food. Not sample sizes.

Was a big success in my book. Yes, it was crowded and yes there were long lines, but that happens at events like this. I think this event will be looked at as a watershed event when the city of Raleigh finally realized food trucks and events like these draw people downtown.

Agreed. We rode bikes all around raleigh, locked up and hung out here with friends for a while. I've been wanting to hit Porchetta for a while, it was right where we locked up (accross from Raleigh Times), line was about two minutes, and the wait for food maybe 15, tops. Not bad IMO, and the food was stellar! Total success in my opinion, and I'm pretty sure most of the good restaurants stayed busy too.
