Often it seems Cat/5/5e/6 matters more for internal network (among devices on the network) than for internet.

It's going up again...this month's bill has a notice that the modem lease fee is going from $5.99 to $8.00. And of course other miscellaneous price "surcharges" that enable them to raise rates without having to change advertised prices. New "sports programming surcharge" of $2.75 that seems to apply to basically everybody.

As is typically the case, if you're on a promotion, you won't see the increases until your promo ends.

EarthLink $41.95 no taxes no surcharges no threatening just a flat monthly fee month after month. Using an old modem I had from many years ago and turned in my old one. $8 a month to rent a modem, what a joke.

I just got the flyer that they will take my package to 50/5, and lots of TV for $10 more a month.
Just in time for the MAXX rollout next year, when they will take 50/5 to (up to) 300/20 at no increase.
Wonder if my DOCSIS 3.0 modem still works on the 300/20?

Only the Arris SB6183 (standalone modem) and Netgear C6300 (modem+router) can be provisioned up to Ultimate 200 and 300. Take note that said modems have 16x4 channel bonding.

All TW-approved 8x4 D3 modems (i.e., SB6141 and 5341J) can be provisioned up to Ultimate 100, and 4x4 D3 modems (i.e., SB6121) provisioned up to Extreme (50/5).

I switched to e-billing, so I didn't notice this at the end of the 10 page bill. A screenshot of the changes is attached.

Of course, my bill notes my current promo ends in mid January.

Thanks. I have the SB6121.
Might have to do some pre-emptive shopping.

Funny you guys brought this up as I was just thinking the same today.

A few months ago on a whim I changed my 30/5 to 50/5 and had issues with connectivity on my SB6121. Went back to 30/5 a couple days later and it was back to rock solid. I hope I don't need a new coax line in the ground because good luck getting one in!
