We have friends visiting from out of town and would like to find something fun to do Saturday afternoon. My husband and I haven't been here too long so we are lacking on ideas. Plus the weather doesn't look that great (chilly and rainy). We plan on having a late lunch at Tir Na Nog, downtown Raleigh, so if anyone has any suggestions for something in that area that would be great. No kids (one on the way) and we're in our late 20's/early 30's.

Thanks for any suggestions!!

Check out the events calender on the website for The Indy:
http://www.indyweek.com/gyrobase/Eve...ate=2007-12-15
There are oodles of art exhibits & plenty of other options listed there.

As a person in your age group, I must say that the one thing that interestes me the most is Commonground Theatre's production of "The Santaland Diaries" : http://www.cgtheatre.com/events
If you're a fan of David Sedaris, you're probably already familiar with this story. Let's just say it's far from your typical Xmas holiday fare.

On Saturday they are having Light-A-Luminary here in Chapel Hill. Luminaries were sold to benefit Ronald McDonald House and houses in 40 neighborhoods in Chapel Hill will be lit up with luminaries starting at about 6 p.m. It is going to be very beautiful. After doing that there are many restaurants and coffee shops for you to choose from.

If I can find someone to watch our luminaries (we have guidelines to follow because of the fire risk) then I plan on driving through some of the other neighborhoods to check out their luminaries.

If you are having lunch at Tir Na Nog and it is messy out, make a quick walk to Imax at Marbles Musuem and see Polar Express or another 3D movie. Check and see if the Carolina Ballet's Nutcracker has a Saturday matinee.

By the way, Crema on Fayetteville Street has the best eggnog latte in town. They make it with, of all things, egg nog, and not egg nog syrup like Starbucks and everywhere else.

The Raleigh Ringers are having two holiday concerts today - one at 3pm & another at 8pm - at the Progress Energy Center. They'll have another concert Sunday at 3pm.
