I've had it with winter in Massachusetts. Here is it only Dec 16, and we've had more snow in December than all of last winter. We move next summer to Raleigh and I guess a tough winter will make it that much sweeter.

What really put me over the edge today what happened because my paperboy had zero common sense, and through the Sunday paper in the driveway early this morning in the middle of a the snow storm. By the time I got out the snowblower, the paper was completely burried in the snow. Naturally, my snowblower found the paper before I did. Well, the snowblower siezed up. It took me 1 hour to get the mangled paper out of the blades, cutting the paper out with a blade, 1 page at a time. I was furious.

Anyway, the countdown is on and we look forward to a new lifestyle.

Word on the street is that a whole bunch of retired Baby Boomer government workers from Maryland, Northern Virginia and the Washington, DC area will join you. Matter of fact, I’ve seen a lot of license plates from those areas lately. Guess their doing some pre-surveys before committing to a town. I hope we have enough water for those that are planning a southern migration.

Don't bring your snowblower as it won't get much use at all here .

NC has been experiencing the worst drought in its history so before you actually move down check on the available water supply where you want to live.

Ptherwise, welcome to North Carolina!!

I moved the first week of August and got to experience 105 degrees of record heat. I'll still take that over the snow! Much easier to drive in the heat. My car might overheat, but still. Central air condtioning is a wonderful thing!

I'mInformed2, are you also know as the poster I'mInformed? Are you missing NC and posting here to stay informed?

Yes, I am kind of an idiot and forgot the password for the original "I'minformed" account, so i had to make another. I don't "miss" NC, but I am still atleast somewhat interested in what goes on down there.

We moved down here this past summer. We figure that if we could survive that heatwave we can survive anything. It really wasn't too bad. And I'll take the heat over the cold, snow and freezing rain any day.

Ah, I see! I still check in on the MA forum from time to time. I think there is always some interest when it comes to a place that was home at one time.

Default rather deal w/ heat than cold

We know all about the drought and the heat in NC. The drought will come and go. The heat, well that is another story. I look at it this way - I would much rather deal with a month or two of unbearable heat and humidity, than 4 months of cold, snowy weather. And let's face it, even when winter is over, April and May aren't that nice in Mass either. My kids have played baseball in May in sleet. June through October can be nice in New England, every other month is a crap shoot.
