I would be shocked if they launched 2 stores at once in the Triangle
They may not be launching them both at the exact same time, but it certainly isn't odd that they would make plans to open more than one. If they are going to open one store, it makes no sense for that to be the ONLY store.
It's become pretty obvious that this area is being seen as ripe for supermarket development, Publix is taking over and apparently Wegman's noticed and wants in. Whatever shopping behaviors are driving this, it's making a lot of transplants happy.
Now y'all will be happy to know that this thread has been quiet with NYers looking to move King Kullen and other common NY stores down here...for once, we're quiet!
The article states they are considering the location. You might be jumping the gun.
Agree, it is not a done deal in either locale. After communicating with the town of Cary, I've learned Wegmans still has not officially presented a proposal and was told not to believe everything I read in the news (N&O, Triangle Business Journal). Also, any proposal will have to meet the standard zoning regs as well as the "vision" the town has for it's dwindling supply of undeveloped, or underdeveloped, land. So, I guess there is a chance the triangle could end up with no Wegmans
They would be smart to come to Wake Forest. I've only met a handful of people here in the last 6 yrs that are not transplants. A lot of upstate NY here. I'm assuming the same goes for Cary and Apex though. The demographic would support it in WF though.
