Is the piggie park link the good stuff or the disgusting stuff?
I guess if I have to pick I'll stick with eastern NC 'cue that I was raised on, but I'm really more about NC seafood rather than pork.
Well, you don't know you like something unless you have tried it first. Imagine what you might be missing out on. However, if you are going to try something new, you need to make sure to try the real stuff....not some knockoff.
I usually buy it fresh and make my own. In season Core Sound delivers NC seafood to Weaver Street Market in Carrboro, or there are seafood markets like Tom Robinson's and Locals Seafood. A lot of the better restaurants in the area will serve local NC seafood. I like going to the beach and getting local there, too, though. That's even better.

I'm just not big on pig, NPG. However, if I'm having pig, I'll go with eastern NC pig since it's traditional in my family for, oh, I dunno, 15-20 generations or so.
Truth be told my favorite NC delicacy is probably a homegrown tomato sandwich. I'm just not a big meat eater.
SC mustard-based and NC mustard-based BBQ are not even remotely the same. Just go to https://www.piggiepark.com/ and look at the images.
I've never tried or heard of a NC mustard based bbq. I tried Maurice's once in Columbia. I just really thought it was awful, and couldn't even finish my sandwich. That was my first and last experience with mustard bbq.

I think it's disgusting, but maybe it's an acquired taste.
I have always wanted to try SC mustard sauce. I'm a huge mustard fan (I think there are at least 8 kinds in the fridge right now...) so mustard on BBQ is a really interesting idea! Just gotta make sure I can find the "real" stuff, don't want to ruin my first experience with it on something that's not authentic and maybe not like it just because it's not how it should be.
I've tried it and liked it. I wonder if someone can suggest a sauce that tastes like Maurice's but is not Maurice's. For some it may not matter, but I found out (and verified) that Maurice was very proud of his segregationist tendencies, and very proud to be one of the last hold-outs to allow blacks to enter his restaurant. Upon learning this, he's never gotten another penny from me. Too bad, his sauce (and Que) were good, but not good enough to compromise my values.
Depends, do you want fresh seafood to cook yourself or a restaurant?
I was thinking of a restaurant. We've gotten decent fish at our local supermarkets. If you have any recommendations in Wake County that would be great.
Sounds like code for "tuna salad" or something....
