I remember my junior year in high school the football team had a mumps outbreak resulting from shared water bottles. I think ~15 people were afflicted. They decided to re-vaccinate the entire school with the MMR vaccine.

We were sent home the same day and the baby is now under quarantine. She still has a mild fever and is a bit fussy but otherwise fine. This is either a mild case of measles or a bad case of roseola or something else entirely. We get the results from the state health lab on Monday.

Yeah baby is fine now. Three doctors including apparently an international measles expert at Duke gave their opinion and agreed that given the exposure and symptoms it was most likely measles (albeit an atypical presentation of Measles) but the tests from the state lab all came back negative. So I guess it was a false alarm and an unfortunate coincidence that turned out to be pretty scary and inconvenient for our family.

In the end the symptoms didn't quite add up - fever never went above 102, eyes were unaffected, she was over it in five or six days. Measles is supposed to be more in the 104-105 range with severe conjunctivitis and light sensitivity.

Glad she's doing better. I'm sorry for all the stress you had to go through, though.

Well, without the irresponsible wackos running around unvaccinated, you wouldn't have had to worry and of course lots of money was spent on additional care that wouldn't have been otherwise.

Uh...what are you talking about...the only people who have to worry about getting sick from eradicated diseases are those who don't get vaccinated themselves because they chose not to of their own free will and what they do affects nobody else.

/factious rant.
