I would say that Cary is much more suburban-oriented than Apex, due to size and more aggressive annexation that started earlier.
Cary is about 22 miles from NW to SE, and not altogether contiguous, even. Reference Peninisula at Amberly and Middle Creek. Quite the spread.
But, if chosen wisely, it may be arguable that many areas of Cary present more walkable options than many in Apex.
Really though, in either town, you have to choose very poorly to have a far drive at all from shops, services, retail, and restaurants.
We walk almost nowhere, but have 6 grocery stores within 2 miles from home. And, additional shops and services readily available in that radius.
Thanks for the lowdown Mike. I really need to spend some time on the ground on our next visit to learn more about Apex.
