Does anyone have any idea why scores on greatschools.org have suddenly dropped throughout both Cary and Apex?

Cary: Cary Schools, 1-25 - Cary, NC | GreatSchools

Davis Drive, Turner Creek, Highcroft, and Alston Ridge - formerly all top ranked schools - are now all rated 6's.

Apex: Apex Schools, 1-25 - Apex, NC | GreatSchools

Olive Chapel and Laurel Park, to name a couple, went down to 6, as well. Plus many others going down in the rankings.

Anyone have any idea why? Seems odd that 95% of Cary/Apex schools would drop down as much as 6 points all at once.

Cary and Apex didn't score a 10's across the board on greatschools. The world is ending!

These scores are largely relative to others in the state, correct? Could be that other schools caught up, could be that the schools you mention regressed to the mean with recent test scores.

It doesn't mean that the schools fell off cliffs.

I'm too lazy to look into it - what are the scores based on?

WHOA WHOA WHOA - the Davis Drive schools are 6 and 8?

This is seriously tragic. I can't even imagine the number of complaints being sent to GreatSchools right now.

Those ratings fluctuate like crazy for whatever reason...pretty useless.

I haven't looked at it. But this has happened in the past when the new scores come out for the year. They will likely be adjusted to their correct scores.

I guess people are just so insecure in the education their children are receiving that they base it on one number on a website.

I got pretty sick of this when I was going through the college admissions process with US News.
