I would be happy if it snowed every day from now until March 21st.
I want enough snow to bury the snow haters, enough to drown out their
muffled cries about hating snow. I want enough snow to bury all the
flowering trees and plants just for the fact it's supposed to be cold
this time of year, not 70 plus degrees. I want to hear the words "pummeled",
"catastrophic", "storm of a lifetime", 'blizzard conditions" used in the snow
forecast. There are 365 days in a year and only about five where I have a
decent chance at best of getting any snow. I haven't had any snow yet this
year and it sucks. I am sick to death of this warm weather. So to answer the
OP's question, yes I want snow... I want a LOT OF SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!
Well would the THREAT of snow be enough, because you would hear those words with just the threat of it.
Greg Fishel said last night he thinks no more snow this year so that probably means a blizzard is coming within 10 days.
I wanted two snow storms this year, but I'm now okay with one after having started my vegetable seedlings, turning my garden, enjoying the warm morning sun on the back deck and enjoying the warm afternoon sun on the back deck with a beer. I've transitioned to Bring On Spring!
We won't be getting much of a winter this year. I just hope we get one more hard freeze to get some insects that might get an early start on Spring. I don't guess another snow would hurt...but just a little one.
And there are plenty of states where you can get all the snow your heart desires. This is the south. No snow needed.
I disagree.
A storm or two per winter (maybe even a deep freeze or two to go with it) with a few inches of snow isn't too much to ask. I'd rather be 'inconvenienced' by snow for a couple of days than fighting off even more bugs than we already get for about six months out of the year.
This may be "the South"; but this isn't the DEEP South. We aren't that far from the Mid-Atlantic (an area that gets a decent amount of snow). If you wanted to avoid the snow completely, there's plenty of places to our south and west where you don't have to worry about seeing a single flake for a few years.
Snow is one thing; cold weather is another. The peach crop will not set unless it gets cold weather, and I suspect it's not the only crop in NC like that.
I grew up in south Alabama, and it is not snow-free. Snow has fallen on the northern Gulf of Mexico beaches. Anyone absolutely averse to snow should move to Florida south of Orlando (not the panhandle; see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snow_in_Florida) or south Texas.
