I like a good, sharp, hard winter, but I can't deny that this weather has been fantastic!
However, it also seems very unnatural. The saucer magnolias and Bradford pear trees are in full bloom in many places, and putting out leaves--with a week left in February! Makes me worried for our planet.
If February is +10 degrees higher than normal, then what's August going to be like?
I would honestly take a repeat of 2013 weather and temperature wise. The highest high was only 96° and the summer was more on the cool and rainy side than it was hot and humid
2012 had a horrible hot spell that I don't ever want to repeat again. I'd be happy if the weather never goes above 80° again.

Have you considered Washington state? Cause that ain't gonna happen in North Carolina.
I don't think this weather is that unusual, really. We typically get a nice warm spell sometime in Feb. It will get cold again.
I have pix that my kiddo took last year of violets and dandelions and ajuga in bloom about this week last year. 2015 was a cold one with that really vicious cold spell in Feb with the polar vortex and then the big wet snow. Violets and crocuses were late that year and blooming the first week of March. I have pix of daffodils the second week of March 2015. We were in t-shirts the first week of Feb 2014 and then snow the second week of Feb 2014 and short sleeves and shorts and daffodils and forsythia blooming Feb 23rd 2014. At the end of Feb 2012, we had the trout lilies and spring beauties blooming. They're not out yet this year that I have seen. Should be any day now, though. I have pix of my kids Feb 27 2011 in shorts and t-shirts.
While it's not unusual to have a few warm days in February, we're probably going to tie a record by the end of the week for having 11 days with highs of at least 70 during the month.
Yeah, I don't dispute that and I'm sure February is getting warmer overall due to climate change, but it will get cool again this year before it stays warm. Supposed to be in the high 50s next Sunday and Monday in Chapel Hill according to WRAL.
"Climate change" is like a 1-2* uptick in temps, not a +20* above normal range.
Just putting it in perspective...no, this beautiful weather is not due to climate change. So rest easy folks. Just a few years ago remember it wasn't hitting 40 as a high in late October/November and stayed like that throughout the winter. It was brutal.
I do think humans are affecting the planet in more ways than one but not to the extent we are seeing out of this weather pattern.
We have had warm spells in Feb for as long as I can remember, but as SFSpiderman mentioned this is a very long, potentially record-setting stretch of 70+ temps. Overall the years and months are getting warmer and more volatile throughout the seasons. I do think it will get cold again before it stays warm. It's way too early in the year for it to stay up in the 70s. That doesn't usually happen until April.
