Does anyone have any info on what types of positions specifically are being eliminated in the Citrix / Sharefile layoffs? How many people total in Raleigh got the axe?

When I saw the "open office" in the following thread, I had a feeling that wouldn't work out for them, as I expressed in that thread:

AFAIK, they haven't said Raleigh would have any layoffs, though there was some mention that the layoff total would include when they "expected 800 in the Raleigh HQ but only had ~620".

layoffs would be because of sales, not because the developers were in open offices, and they need to convert and lose 20-30 people for the extra sqft.

Hopefully, more layoffs will change the impression of possible transplants that this area has sidewalks paved in gold.

Wait until these folks experience our decontented unemployment program and the low pay in many traditional jobs in this right to work for less state.

Not to encourage Eeyore-ish views but I would have to agree, the perception of there being a lot of jobs is due in part to the amount of churn and instability here, of which there is less in certain other locations. As well as the amount of contract versus permanent positions.

Bringing employees into an office, having them pack up their belongings, then forcing them to leave and mailing them their belongings is a pretty cruel way to fire employees.

Umm I doubt that will occur though, I remember all the IBM and other RTP layoffs over the past years and that hasn't ebbed the flow of people lol.

They believe the hype in the media.

Many employers here have no loyalty to anyone. That's why they abandoned their previous locations and chopped many employees.

Even USPS hires mostly non-career employees with no real job security.

You actually think that only employers in the Triangle lack loyalty?

Glad to see you're back to your old delusional self

The days of employer/employee loyalty are looooooooong gone - everywhere.

Was it ITT that called everyone into a large room and handed each of them an envelope? Those with one color got to stay, while the others were laid off.
