Hello All,

I'm getting ready to close on a home in Raleigh (in the midtown area). I'm curious if anyone regrets their recent relocation to Raleigh. I work from home but will admit that I have some level of trepidation regarding relocating to a new Southern city. I'm not sure if I should just stay put in NY and the DC metro area.

I have a home in NYC, but the home will be rented out to family (but of course I will be returning back and forth, as needed to NYC (that's part of the rental agreement)) .

I'm considering not going through with closing and possibly searching for a new home in Chicago!

Hey,

I currently live in Brooklyn, NY and I honestly can not wait to leave this crappy state for so many reasons. I look forward to seeing some of the responses from others because I plan on moving to Raleigh within this upcoming year. Overall from my research it looks beautiful and lovely. The complete opposite of NY. I plan on taking a week trip there by the end of March.

I moved to Raleigh from NJ back in 2005. Still love it every day. I go back to visit family in NJ each year, but Raleigh is home now and that is just fine with me.

Don't move here.

If you're already thinking of canceling the closing, don't do it. Also, if "LovelySummer" is any sort of goal for you, it's really hot here and you can barely go out in July at all.

So, yeah... I'd cancel if you feel like you're not making the right move. If "just stay put in NY and the DC metro area" is something that easily flits into your mind, I'm not clear on why someone who works remote would bother to move here. You have not listed a single reason that you want to be here at all and you are considering Chicago, which is NOTHING like here other than the oppressive, humid heat in July.

I am right across the Durham border, and moved down from Connecticut in 2014. There are some VERY minor things I miss (pizza, bagels, Italian bread...) but... no regrets. Almost everything here is just as good, and most things are WAY better.

You're going to find people that love it, and people that hate it. All you can do is come down and spend some time here to decide for yourself.

Yeah, I really look forward to making the move to Raleigh one day soon. I have been sending my resume out but I feel I am being over looked due the fact I do not yet reside in NC.

This area isn’t interesting if you aren’t here for work or trying to mak a space to raise a family

I moved from the DC-area and miss it terribly. I would consider staying there, if I were you.

I think by referring to a midtown area you are being hoodwinked by your realtor lol
