Relocating to the area, just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for short term rentals? What did you do when relocating?
We would need something from May 1- end of July or Aug.... Just a place so we can begin our jobs and look for a place to buy... preferably furnished but not required..
Finding a furnished place may very well be limited to airbnb, executive/extended say hotels, or renting furniture. With the exception of Airbnb, I don't think you're going to like the prices very much.
Apartments with short term leases (3 months or more) are out there, several in Brier Creek, which is located just about dead center in The Triangle. You would need to rent furniture, and the monthly rent will be higher than a one year lease.
I don't know what your budget is, but plenty of people are having a hard time buying a house in Raleigh or the surrounding suburbs. Low supply, high demand, and multiple offers.
Find yourself a GREAT realtor, and recognize that you may need to be in that rental longer than the 3 short months you are anticipating.
there's a market, until you tell them the rent rate.
To give a really good answer, we'd have to start with the rental laws in NC. I don't know the date, but there's a period (60 days?) where it's no longer a hotel/extended stay and now a tenancy is created. And when that tenancy is created, then you've got collection and eviction issues to solve.
airbnb's can provide an option, though at a $60/night+ rate for a 1 BR, that's $1,800/mo when a 1 BR is not generally more than 1K.

We've found that in other cities, Airbnb 'landlord's will discount significantly for long term rentals. However, the higher electric bill for air conditioning in those summer months may limit the amount of that discount.
The landlord can get a 12 month lease, but then the students go home for the summer and sublet while they're elsewhere and then come back in August and take over from the sublet.
