We replaced our system last year.

Manufacturer = Carrier (outside compressor unit and inside condenser)

Capacity = 3 Ton

Efficiency = 14 SEER

Total Cost w/ install = $3200

Vendor = Environmental Heating and Air
I need to do two 2.5 ton units I'll put them on my list, that is an excellent price.

What time of year did you do it?

Is this them?

See how much extra a 15 or 16 seer unit is. May just be a few hundred more for more efficient units.

Environmental Heating & Air of NC, Inc.
Yep, that's them. All they do is HVAC; no plumbing etc. We did it at the end of September 2017. I think your inclination is correct -time of year probably influences pricing. Carrier Model 24ACC4 https://www.carrier.com/residential/...ioners/24acc4/

I'm looking at receipt now... total = $3300...not 3200.

Some people don't like playing around with 240V and Freon. Like most of the trades, if you know what you are doing, it is not that difficult.

Difficulty of the install must influence the price. My unit is in the attic only access is through fold down stairs. Hopefully that doesn't add too much to the price.

I’ve had Justin out to service my upstairs Traine unit twice this year. He’s definitely still in the industry and also said he is completely swamped. My guess is he has so much maintenance work that he has no time to do estimates(?).

I’ll continue to use him as long as he continues to show and he has not let me down yet. He’s done two installs for me at my previous residence and did a stellar job and, as far as I know, the units (GM) are still running great.

A question for those who had A/C unit replaced: did the installer replace the copper lines/pipes too? did they work on the duct? Thanks.

Service Experts installed a new Lennox heat pump two days ago. Yes, they replace the copper lines.

The unit being replaced may have left debris in the lines, so it is in the installer's own best interest to replace them. Otherwise that debris can cause trouble and a warranty call.

... did they work on the duct?
The Service Experts techs inspected the ductwork and judged it to be satisfactory.

They replaced the outdoor disconnect box even though there was nothing wrong with the old one... and replaced the condensate drain line even though there was nothing wrong with the old one... and replaced the thermostat even though there was nothing wrong with the old one.

You can flush the lineset as long as the size doesn't need to be adjusted. It's not necessary to replace*.
