A friend reported that the Walmart in the Quay was selling 12 packs of water for $22. You'd think they would know better than to price gouge!
I find that hard to believe. Did they provide a photo? The neighborhood market on Hwy 55 directed people to the back of the store where they had guys loading 40-packs off of pallets into people's carts as needed. their own brand so it was just a couple of bucks.

No photo, but I don't have any reason to believe they were lying.

There is a practical side to getting bottled water. If you need to evacuate or change locations for any reason, it's smart to take water with you. A cooler can travel, but a bathtub can't.
Hold up....
Obviously the main point of this thread is to discuss the insanity of how all of these people are buying up bottled water like it's the apocalypse (even though most of us are on city water)....which is very fair...
BUT...
I can't just ignore the fact that you referred (presumably) to the town of Fuquay-Varina as "The Quay"....
I just left Sam's Club on Saunders and they were out of water. I thought it would be helpful to list places that are out of essentials to prevent Trianglers from driving all over the place in preparation for the storm!
It may be more helpful to tell people WHERE you found bottled water and the day.
Many stores will get more shipments in. Some will get multiple shipments per day.
I had no idea "The Quay" was a thing. I've just always called it Fuquay and dropped the Varina.
And, back in MY day <said in a crochety old person voice> we used to have runs on the ABC store and load up on cases of beer before a hurricane. What's with this water business. Are you people trying to be healthy? How can you have a good hurricane party drinking water??
