Are all Whole Foods stores the same size? My partner says no. I'm really only familiar with the west Cary store. I pass another one on the way home on Six Forks but have never been inside.

I was disappointed by the cheese section in West Cary. Yes there was some variety but no staff to answer questions.

Maybe it's only West Cary but I was surprised at the lack of shoppers in the store. It didn't feel busy compared to a Harris Teeter or Lowes Foods.

The other whole foods in Cary is much busier I think it's because the west cary one is in a area that still has to build out some more. Right now people in west Cary can just hit up HT, Publix, or Aldi's so much easier, also feel like the prepared food section is better at the other Cary location, feel like the one off 55 has a time limit(like they aren't switching it out with a fresh batch after a while).

Your partner is correct. WF stores range from 25,000 to 50,000 square feet. I think the west Cary store is 35,000 square feet.

The one on Wade Avenue must be way on the lower end of that SF range. That one always feels so cramped and tiny.

Your partner is correct; Anyone who visits the small, claustrophobic one in Durham can attest to that.

Same as the one in Durham. I wouldn’t be surprised if Durham’s was smaller because it’s housed in an old A&P from the 1950s.

Beat me to it.

Was looking up brochures for Ridgewood Shopping Center and Bull City Market too. Both are small and kind of claustrophobic but surprisingly enough, they aren’t that much smaller than a typical Food Lion which runs about 35,000 square feet.

There's a huge one in Fairfax, Virginia. They used to tape some cooking show there or something. I just looked it up, and it's 64,000 square feet. Don't know if that's their biggest one, but it was a "premiere" one in the DC area.

The one at corporate headquarters in Austin is 80,000 SF. It's impressive, but it ain't no Wegmans.

Ha! Nothing is Wegman's! But frankly, their stores are almost too big, unless you really want to take your time shopping there. I really enjoy grocery shopping, and like leisurely shopping, but sometimes I just want to run in and run out to grab something. I was at their Fairfax store on Sunday morning at 8:30 AM, and it was already packed. Granted, it was Mother's Day, but still. Those stores are always busy!
