Hospitalizations with COVID may be going up, but so is the percentage of empty beds (29% empty today for non-ICU and 25% empty for ICU beds). These are for empty, staffed beds.
The fact that hospitalizations with COVID are going up while the percentage of empty beds also goes up, to me, means the increase in the number is from people who happen to end up in the hospital for other reasons, getting tested positive, and counting toward the number of COVID patients in the hospital. They are not there because of COVID.
I mean really - do we really need to see this every time hospitalizations or cases go up by a few?
Instead of reporting "breaking news" about "records", why not report on useful information like what's behind the gradual increase in hospitalizations?

I don't know why the state and DHHS doesn't stress this more. Someone had to pry the fact that ICU numbers weren't increasing out of Cohen, it wasn't volunteered. It has been obvious for weeks that ICU admits have been declining in their own surveillance, but they never say these things out loud.

Because the media and certain politicians have a vested interest in scaring the **** out of people. They don't want to enlighten people to the fact the death rate is dropping dramatically or provide the reasons why. It doesn't fit the narrative.

all you have to do is read the replies to his tweet about yesterday's hospitalizations.
50% "I hate you"
50% "we never should have opened at all, weza all gonna die"
While they forgot peaceful 10 protesting in the list, I see something almost as high on the list is going to bars and those are the two biggest factors in the spread over the weeks.
