Florida is currently atop the league, gonna be a battle. Hope Svech has a big game, he's been struggling and a big night would help him and the team.

Yeah. RBA even called him out in post-game interview Saturday night. That was a first.
Rod usually avoids that.
Bit of frustration with unnecessary penalties.

Svech hasn't scored much of late, but he still has 10 goals in 37 games. That's a little lower than his pace last season, but about the same as his rookie season. Or to put it differently, if Svech were a rookie this year, everybody would be delighted by 10 goals in 37 games.

Over the three seasons, he has gotten 0.75 PIM per game... a very consistent rate. That's actually lower than Erik Cole got in his early years. Cole had a somewhat similar game. Later in his career, Cole learned to take fewer penalties.

I think Svech has higher aspirations for himself than his current output. The frustration on his face is evident, and he presses himself very hard.
"Gripping the stick too tight."

Yes, his PIM has been consistent. RBA wants to see it decline, particularly the sloppy unforced plays at key times, like the very avoidable offensive zone slash the other night late in the game.
"He tries too hard."

There was a trainload of massive hits Sunday night by the Canes.
Hits were 54-35, favoring the Canes.

Most hits in 10 years, and many of them were bone-rattlers.

I wouldn't say the Canes are at the physicality level of a Boston, but they're definitely tougher than 5 years ago... and yet they're taking relatively few penalties.

Crowd of 4000+ was happy.
I can only imagine the noise level of 18000 delirious Canes fans going nuts when that first empty netter was scored.
The blown call on the disallowed goal just seemed to motivate the Canes.
Then the review on Trocheck's goal? The place would have gone crazy.

Thursday should be a great game. I am sure Florida will bring their A game, but I thought they did last night.
Canes are great to watch. There are absolutely no selfish players on this team.

3-0 win, Ned 24-save shutout, Canes at 57 points and 1st place overall in the league!

And Rod said it wasn't a very good game. "Weird game."
I was there, and the effort was excellent. We 'weirdly" outplayed Florida for 3 periods.

Ever since Wes McCauley called off that goal by the Canes, it seems that Florida isn't happy unless they knock one in for us.
