Feels late to me, my sugarsnap peas are usually a couple feet tall by now and they have not broken ground yet. Usually plant mid January, did not go in this year until first week of Feb.

My 55th spring in Raleigh. Feels pretty normal to me.

The Raleigh area AVERAGES its last frost the first week of April. That means sometime before and sometimes after. We will still likely see a cold snap or two before then.

I'm just ready for the rain to stop. So saturated. Worst I can remember since moving here in 1988.

I live not far from there, and that’s what caught my eye...

Thanks for this. In February I put out new fescue overseed with some pelletized lime and a Spring weed and feed mix. I usually hold on the crabgrass preemergent until after the Forsythia have bloomed. Recently this has been late March. I’ve got a bag already, so I’ll try to get it out before the next rain. Fortunately we look dry for the next week. Unfortunately my and my kids allergies are already cranking up.

I'm no lawn expert but ...

I thought you put out the preventer before you put out new seed (like, a couple weeks before).

as to early spring? Heck no. We've had stuff blooming by Valentine's Day within the last decade.

Around Feb 10, when they were talking about the weather and the rain (we had twice as much rain as normal), and it was colder than normal, and they said "we usually have 10 days in the 60's in February". I'm pretty confident that didn't happen.

we had a really wet winter about 5-6 years ago. Not even counting the year there was a lot of winterkill.

Some of my daffodils started blooming about a week ago. I think I remember last year them coming up and starting to bloom in February as well.
