Crime stats are only as good as what’s reported and if you think small northern towns are not in the habit of hushing up REAL crime you're naive. The police blotter where I lived was filled with “person freed from elevator in office building” and “cat rescued from storm grate “ but far worse crimes happened and you only heard about them in hushed conversations around town. THAT is a far bigger problem than when reality gets reported.
If a story did make it into the news you heard about it once and then never ever again.
There’s been an uptick in this type of crime everywhere and it’s getting more random. If you think any place has a bubble you’re nostalgic. Malls are usually located near highways - that combined with people going into them with MONEY and leaving with GOODS will ALWAYS make them more prone to crime.
Personally am not a fan of malls and also will not go to Crabtree anymore. Only reason I ever went in the first place was the LEGO store anyway.
