I just lost the lottery and received my Jury Duty Notice for Jan 2022.

Has anyone done Jury Duty in Raleigh since the pandemic started? I'm curious how many people will be packed into the waiting areas and courtrooms during this process and also if the bureacratic delays and nonsense are any worse than usual.

I'm trying to prepare myself for what to expect.

This will be my 3rd Jury Duty session, but the first in Raleigh. The other two were remarkable demonstrations of government inefficiency and time wasting where we sat for over 8 hours basically waiting for about 15 minutes of actual work being done (Pittsburgh PA and Ft Lauderdale Fl).

I read all the FAQs on the website and have my fingers crossed when I call the night before that I'm not called in. But I seem to have the reverse luck when it comes to JD.

I got summonsed 6 months ago or so. You get a number, and call in the night before and they tell you if you have to come in. Usually it's just a fraction of the numbers have that actually go in, so I can't imagine it would be packed (nobody was called in on my day).

I called occasionally in the weeks prior just to see how frequently they actually brought people in, and the majority of the time it was nobody. Maybe that's changed.

I have sat on a jury during COVID. We sat one per row with masks in public area, not in the jury box. We were all spread far apart during selection and while serving on the jury. Jury deliberations were in another court room so we could easily spread out, not a small jury room like I was accustomed to the last time I served in another state.

That sounds reasonable. Hopefully I’ll not be called in but if I am, at least it is spaced out a bit.

I’ve lived in Wake Co for almost 17 years and have never been called. (Perhaps I just jinxed myself?)

Lived here 8 years and as soon as I renewed my license I got called. Same with my son but he got excused as a full time student. I didn't have to go thought.

My boss got called a couple months ago and had to go.

I have lived here my entire adult life and have never been summoned for jury duty and am honestly a little disappointed! Granted I've bounced between Wake, Durham, and Orange counties several times in the span of the last decade but still!

I was called last week. Large waiting room, never sat next to anyone. Masks required. Maybe 40 in the room. Bring iPad or book.

Was called to go to trial, but on the way a plea deal was reached, so we were done!

Wake County resident for 45 years, second time I was called.

My last, since at 72 you don’t have to serve.

I have been here (and registered to vote) since the early 80s and just got my 2nd notice a month ago. I was #440. When I called, everyone was excused.
