If you like North Hills and are looking for other outdoor shop / dine areas I recommend you check out Cameron Village witch is closer to downtown Raleigh. There is also a European Style shopping development called Lafayette Village that is currently under construction in North Raleigh on Falls of Neuse Road. I believe this is located only a few miles from where you mentioned you would be living. You may also want to make a trip out to Southpoint Mall in Durham and check out their outdoor section.

We also found these other planned developments along the same lines. These types of developments seem to be gaining in popularity. They are going to be built with downtown type streets and condos/lofts over retail. I think North Hills is having an impact elsewhere. How long has North Hills been around as it is now?
i know some people think this kind of development in general is crap and is replacing either quirky downtown shops or old-fashioned main street, but i gotta say: that looks really nice, and a lot of the RTP area seems to have enclaves of stuff like this. that's what i'm looking forward to seeing, not some grungy old stores. did that make any sense?

I second that!!! I've been on here on and off but more so recently now that I am planning my move to the Triangle. Your posts are great...I was waffling between NC, FL and CA, but I finally decided that NC was the best fit for me, and I really appreciate all of the awesome info and pics you have posted on here!!! Keep up the good work!!!

Very cool, thanks for posting these. I just love these quaint shopping/dining areas. Good place to push a stroller around and just enjoy the sunshine. Raleigh seems to have all the stores I love!
