Actually, the lines at Costco in Apex ARE worse than usual. Last weekend, they were waving people away because there was literally no room for any more cars without blocking the road behind it. I left and went on a weekday morning about 9am. In the past, there was never a wait at that time of day, but this week there was a line. It's definitely worse.
There's usually a line at the Costco in Apex. It's not anything new.
I have purchased gas at the new Costco in Garner at least a dozen times since they opened and have never had to wait for a pump. Of course, I am able to go during the week, but it still looks like many folks don't know it is there.
When we go down we eyeball the lines. If cars are blocking the way in we may do it later. Sometimes at Raleigh Costco the line backs up to the Six Forks entrance but we often come in from Atlantic Avenue. So if lines are too long we can’t get in. We are patient but not that patient.
How much lower are the prices at Costco, to make it worthwhile to sit in a line?
I paid $4.199 for 87 at Sheetz yesterday. Drove in. Filled up. Drove out.
I likely wouldn't go out of my way to wait in line for 20 minutes for much less than a $0.20 difference.

I live 2 blocks away from the Raleigh Costco (it’s $4.08 right now) but yeah I agree it’s not worth it unless you live nearby or are already there doing other shopping.
I thought I heard something on WRAL about gas lines at some (cheaper) stations? Has anyone been to the Costco in Raleigh to get gas? Are the lines longer than usual or is it a non event? I’ve got gas but my partner likes to go there.
On Tuesday after 5 pm, the Raleigh Costco was slammed with cars in the gas line.

Exxon Mobil near Falls of Neuse was only $4.15 today. The one next to the Sunoco.
I just returned from California, so no matter where I get gas this week I'll be thinking it's a bargain ($5.50+ per gallon from San Diego to LA).
There have been times where Costco has been as much as $.50 per gallon cheaper than elsewhere, but even for a 14 gallon fill up, that's only a $7 savings. If I need to wait 30 minutes to gas up, it's not worth it for me, my time is worth more than $14 per hour (it's simple math). And besides, currently there's only a $.12 per gallon difference between Costco and the Sheetz down the street from me.
But to address the original post, there wasn't a line anywhere I passed yesterday, including BJ's.
