...but downtown is a very tiny area with restaurants that in my opinion mostly appeal to what we used to call "hipsters" back in the early 2000s (I don't know what they're called now) that tend to skew white.
On top of that, downtown Durham lacks basic amenities like grocery stores, drug stores, and hardware stores...
That's part of the problem.
And all those hipsters have aged, and are now emeritus hipsters. They're in the power positions now lol
It's hard to believe anyone who's spent a significant amount of time in Durham would need to ask where all the black people are.
The original question was about downtown. I go to places in Durham where everyone speaks Spanish. But I don't assume that's the *only* place where I will hear it.
It's good to support black owned businesses but I'm pretty sure people go to other places as well.
